The following impressions are based on the last four days. The stars aligned and I not only got a key but I was off from work for the next four days! What better way to spend it than trying out a new game? Last week I happened to surf over to MMORPG.COMВ and happened to see that they were giving away beta keys. After that, my interest waned again as I started looking into ESO and Wildstar. I thought heavily about investing in one of the FounderвЂ™s Pack but decided it was simply too much to spend on a game at that time. Trion is a fantastic company and if anyone could do the game justice here in the U.S., its Trion. When it was announced that Trion had acquired the rights to publish ArcheAge here in the U.S., my interest went up again. Not really game design, although that is part of it, but the art style really doesnвЂ™t appeal to me and never has.

Secondly, I dreaded the вЂњasianвЂќ aspects of the game. First, there was no telling when, if ever, it would hit the North American market. A huge world, pirates, house building, castle sieges? WhatвЂ™s not to like about that? But, as time drew on, my interest waned considerably. When I first heard of it, it really piqued my interest. Group versus Solo play, PvE versus PvP, etc.I have been on again/off again interested in ArcheAge since it first reared its head in Korea. It is planned that using one skill could affect another skill used.Д®ach skill is also planned to have its own graphic animation so that you will not only be able to recognise a party member using one skill but alo that of an enemy.ДЄnd we havenвЂ™t even started yet on which skills or abilities compliment the armor type that can be worn (given that any player can wear any armor type but certain armor types could adversely affect skills). This doesnвЂ™t tell the whole story though.Д®ach ability is made up of 12 skills.

Reinforcement (12 pts) вЂ“ Adamant, Love or either Magic, Romance or will.

Weakening (11 pts) вЂ“ Death, Illusion & Love.

Protection (11 pts) вЂ“ Romance with 2 of Fight, Wild or Vocation.

(13 pts) вЂ“ Death, Magic & either Illusion or Will The highest (or most specialised) abilities can be achieved as follows So, each of the 3 skill choices adds 12 points to each of 5 abilities.

Will вЂ“ Magical damage, magic defence, opening portals.

Adamant вЂ“ Tanks skills, all for defense and survivability.

(The ability names below have been adjusted to match those used) So, one вЂfighterвЂ™ could have a different skill set to another вЂfighterвЂ™.Д«ut what does each skill actually do? Now, with 120 possible ability combinations, it is unlikely that there will be 120 class titles that quickly sum-up a specific skill set.

Support Mage (buffs/debuffs/crowd control).

In general players will try to fit into generic, mmorpg skill sets. I strongly suspect that far less ability combinations will be used as people tailor their choices to meet a more defined skill outcome. With such a wide diversity of builds possible in ArchAge (120 ability combinations are possible) there is no doubt going to be a lot of вЂdiscussionвЂ™ as to the best builds or indeed what even makes a good healer, tank, assassin or even mage etc. ArcheAge Classes, Skills and Builds Preview by Ishmah
